I started lambing at the beginning of last December, I sponged for the first time, once again the 2007 bug struck, sponging is suppose to shorten the lambing season by causing the ewes to cycle at about the same time, thus if you're lucky the majority will lamb within the first week with straggler lambing to the next cycle, oh no not in 2007 they didn't. Whether it was the weather or what but my lot managed to stretch it out to the 4th cycle, oh yes some lambed to time, then I had to wait for another 17 days for a few more and so on, I'm still waiting on 1 shearling, but she was scanned empty and so I have no idea at all when she will lamb only sure thing is it should be before April.
I still love watching the lambs, they have such a joy for living, to watch a litlle army of lambs galloping around the field jumping and skipping not a care in the world, they are my pride and joy.
Lets hope that we get the Blue Tongue vaccine before to long or may be my joy will be short lived, I hate the thought of my flock being infected.
Show schedules are starting to drop through the door, hopefully we will have a better year than last.
