Just this morning I noticed that one of my hens had a prolapse. It gave me a scare at the time but I am trying my best to put it back in. It stays on until she goes to the toilet and it comes back out again. Does anyone have any advice or a way that they put the prolapse back in???????????
Yesterday she laid an egg even though her prolapse was still a tiny bit out. When I checked her this morning it was all back in again but she was very messy (poo) but I gently cleaned it away. Am I doing the right thing? Hannah Badger
I had a problem with one of my ex-batt's prolapsing quite badly not long after i had her, i washed off gently with warm water what had come out and gently returned it to it's proper place, then kept her separate with another quiet bird for a week or so just on a diet of poultry corn and greens to encourage her not to lay (no layers pellets). I did as you are doing and kept her bottom clean each day and she made a full recovery and now 2 years later she's still laying a couple of eggs each week!
