Since first starting our blog we have not had time to post anything on it due to recent weather conditions, the worst being the storms of the 18th January which caused so much damaged to our hay barn it had to be demolished, initally this gave us great concerns as the barn was within 3mtrs of our house, the gust of wind that caused the damaged was recorded at 101 MPH whiched snapped some of the wooden uprights / post causing the barn just to hang in its prevoius position leaning towards the house. We had to have builders to erect a scaffold cage under the barn for safety reasons and to prevent it from falling on the house, it has cost as much to demolish the barn as it will to by a replacement, this does not include the cost to erect the structure, (Hope the insurance company coughs up) And then we had the snow around 10" to be exact, oh well all part of the game of small holding.
Jobs for Rose and I for the rest of February and into March will be preparing and sowing our kitchen garden, muck spreading our fields and a bit of boundry fencing.
